FUTURE L.E.A.D.E.R.S. COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM

Future L.E.A.D.E.R.S. Community Service Program is designed to teach youth the importance of giving back to the community.  The program will provide opportunities for youth to participate in community service projects in the Charlotte Metro area.  The projects will allow the participants to have a feeling of connectedness to their community and has the intent to instill a feeling of pride for their neighborhoods.  As a result of improving their neighborhoods, the youth shall develop an appreciation for their neighbors in the community as well. 

PROGRAMS

FUTURE L.E.A.D.E.R.S. LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The Future L.E.A.D.E.R.S. Leadership Academy is in partnership with Charlotte Housing Authority to provide out of school time programming for youth that live in a Charlotte Housing Authority Property or receiving a housing voucher. Students will receive daily academic enrichment through homework assistance, educational lessons, and academic assignments. In addition to academic assistance, students will also complete the Go H.A.R.D. curriculum which improves character development and enhances the social and emotional development of each student. Students also participate in trips that are intentionally designed to expand the exposure of the students to experiences that enhance their social skills as well career options. Limited transportation will be provided to students by the Charlotte Housing Authority.

FUTURE L.E.A.D.E.R.S. MENTORING PROGRAM​

The Future L.E.A.D.E.R.S. Mentoring Program is based upon group and individual mentoring sessions designed to meet the social and academic needs of each participant. This program is strength based by design with a focus on removing the barriers that hinder positive results and production in an academic setting.  Each activity utilizes technology via PowerPoint to improve active note taking and encourage group interaction.  The goal of this program is to show the relevance of education and how it affects the participant’s potential success  following high school graduation.   Achievement of this goal is evident when each individual discovers a potential profession  that incorporates the strengths, talents, and passion that will give them an opportunity of becoming a responsible adult in productive profession and a community leader.
